Since its formation in 1992, the unabated success of the North American Airlines Loan Borrow Forum (NAALBF) attracted a growing number of operators from Latin America and Europe, among them KLM, British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France.
In 2011, Aviation Concepts (ACI), Air France (AF), British Airways (BA) and Lufthansa (LH) launched the idea of creating an equivalent event in Europe. The project came to fruition in 2012 when Air France (AF) hosted the first European Airlines Loan Borrow Forum in Paris CDG with the help of the three other founding members, welcoming 31 attendees.
The Loan/Borrow Forum united Loan & Borrow, Supply Chain team members and managers. In open talks, they shared issues they faced, were looking for or found and described.
It constitutes an excellent example of “working together” and has proven its value to the airline community, gathering multiple knowledge and experiences in AOG assistance and Loan/Borrow management.
Along its successive editions, the forum progressively self-transformed to an event where, beyond a place to share L&B best practices, operators and suppliers can address general topics as well as specific subjects during :
Open talks where every attendee can submit topics the whole audience can contribute to answer.
Bilateral sessions (airline to airline or sponsor to airline) to address specific subjects.
The event consists, today, of a dense schedule of working sessions mixed with bilateral meetings during the day, cultural visits and social times in the evenings.
Growing beyond its initial scope, the EALBF meaning changed to European AOG, Loan & Borrow Forum. After 11 different cities, the 2025, 14th edition of Budapest welcomed the largest number of attendees to date, with 120 participants.
